This work is to explore the static performance of memory in dynamic time. My friend is the protagonist in the photo, and what is recorded is a conversation between me and her about memory. This is the memory of a conversation between me and her from my viewpoint, the expression and documentation of the memory in the present time. For her, it is the experience she recalled in the past, and the memories that happened in the past are recorded through her facial expressions. The feelings you have when you see this work are memories that happened in the future.

Tose images above are some screeshoots that I cuted from the interviews with my friends and classmate. During those interview I try to let them recall some impressive memory of their life.

Details of I think what i think

Here are some images of work in studio, all of these to see is like a recorded moment, recording the process of a person trying to recall a memory.

And I used the composition form of Chinese ink painting to create this Acrylic painting, which is my attempt to combine Chinese painting form with Western painting media.

In this project, I chose chess to represent the common memory of China and the West, because in the chess world, the chessboard is the whole world, and every step we take on the chessboard will change the direction of the development of the whole world. I created this painting in a game format that can interact with the audience. In this project, I explored the differences between Chinese and Western cultures, ethnic differences, and individual collective differences.

I am inspired by the work of an artist Susan Cianciolo who also is interested in making interactive artworks. And she creates a series of installation artworks like a parody of a clue game.  During the interaction with audiences and those artworks, It might feel familiar, but it’s only an outline, like viewing someone else’s memory.

Whereas, I hope my game will not end up with one answer like a clue game. I hope that this work's viewers will have more possibilities in this immersive memory game. Through interaction with the work, the viewer can get tremendous gains both visually and spiritually.

Feedback from my peers has meant that I am trying to bring the color in this painting, comparing the colored abstract painting with black and white concrete painting in this chess game painting. Therefore those watercolor paintings will appear on the top of my chess pieces.
